Storyline and Setting

This storyline takes place in New York City in the near-future. Supernaturals have begun to be integrated into society and foundations have been laid for their existing peacefully amongst humans. Organizations have sprung up through the United States which either support or harm their existence in the modern world. Prior to the creation of the Supernatural Enforcement and Protection Act of 1952 and the Supernatural Registration Authority, Supernatural entities existed quietly along side humans, unprotected from violence and unlawful treatment. A new movement has urged Supernaturals to come forward and create a new world for themselves in which all creatures are created equal.

Of course, not everything is how it seems.

The Supernatural Registration Authority is not without corruption and the United States Government has used the SRA as a way not to create freedoms, but to create restriction and breed violence instead. The authoritative core of the SRA, unbeknownst to the smaller leaders of the organization, has been authorizing illegal testing and detainment of Supernaturals at the base known as Area 51, once used for testing upon one of the first supernatural entities– extraterrestrials. Technologies developed for the extermination and alteration of many extraterrestrials has been utilized on Supernatural’s deemed ‘beyond recovery’—those exhibiting overtly violent behaviors and unusually powerful abilities. Alien technology has also been used to study and examine these Supernaturals, as well as, in some occasions, created them.

Other organizations also exist which express interest in Superatural affairs. The Heavenly Host is a religious organization, which believes in the conversion of Supernatural’s and advocates abandonment of their powers and supernatural traits. The Heavenly Host promises medical and spiritual treatment’s, some of which may be invasive, and may even result in death. The SRA does not condone or support such organizations.

Underground organizations also exist throughout the United States which aide in the protection and well-being of Supernaturals. Some underground organizations even assist in helping Supernatural’s escape from Area 51, as well as other laboratories and bases. Such organizations also exist to help those who have refused to be on the registry. These groups are, of course, highly illegal. Those found involved with such groups, registered or otherwise, are subject to possible termination.

Areas in New York City with lower economic status often house Supernatural beings, seeing as most of them have previously suffered adversity both at home and in the work place. A few prestigious Supernatural families may exist, but they are indeed rare. Violence in the poorer parts of the city are common and citations are regularly written up for the misuse of powers and personal traits. Schools in lower class area’s are generally unsegregated, though wealthier parts of the city offer school’s for ‘human’s only’.
